Wayne State University College of Engineering was established in 1933 as a part of the Detroit Institute of Technology. It was originally known as the College of Applied Science and Engineering, and offered degrees in Mechanical, Chemical, Electrical, and Civil Engineering. In 1969, the college was renamed to its current name. The college has since grown to offer nine undergraduate programs in engineering and computer science, three master’s programs in engineering, two doctoral programs in engineering, two joint master’s degree programs with other Wayne State Colleges, and a graduate certificate program.
