Virginia Commonwealth University School of Engineering (VCU Engineering) was founded in the year 1968 as the Richmond Professional Institute. It began offering engineering courses in 1969 and expanded its offerings over the years. In 1975, it became a part of VCU and was renamed VCU School of Engineering. Since then, it has become one of the largest engineering schools in Virginia. The school offers undergraduate degree programs in civil, electrical and computer engineering, mechanical engineering, and systems engineering & operations research.
