The University of Mississippi School of Engineering (UMSoE) was established in 1947 as the first engineering school in the state. Initially, it offered only Civil Engineering and Mechanical Engineering degrees, but has since expanded to include Electrical and Computer Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, and Chemical Engineering.
