The University of Minnesota Twin Cities Institute of Technology (UMTCIT) was founded in 1851, making it the oldest public institution of higher learning in the state of Minnesota. It has grown from its humble beginnings as a small campus with just a few buildings to one that now encompasses more than 2,000 acres and boasts over 50,000 students. UMTCIT is a comprehensive research university, offering more than 150 undergraduate and graduate degree programs across 19 colleges and schools.
