The University of Idaho College of Engineering was established in 1903, as the first engineering school in the Pacific Northwest. It is the oldest engineering college in Idaho and one of the oldest public engineering colleges in the United States. The college began with only two departments – Civil Engineering and Mechanical Engineering. Over time, additional departments were added, including Electrical Engineering, Computer Science & Engineering, and Chemical & Materials Science Engineering. Today, the College of Engineering offers 12 bachelor’s degree programs, six master’s degree programs and two doctoral degree programs. The college also offers a variety of outreach activities to encourage students to pursue careers in engineering and to foster relationships between students and industry professionals. In addition to on-campus instruction, some courses are offered online or through distance learning as well.
