Engineering schools in West Virginia offer a variety of degree programs, ranging from associate’s to doctoral degrees. The state has six accredited engineering schools, all of which are part of either public or private universities. Most of these programs offer specializations in civil and environmental engineering, electrical and computer engineering, mechanical engineering and aerospace engineering. All six schools provide a strong foundation in mathematics, science and technology, as well as the fundamentals of engineering. Programs also emphasize real-world problem-solving skills through hands-on labs, field trips and internships. In addition to traditional classroom instruction, many schools also offer online courses for students who wish to pursue an engineering education from home.
