Prairie View A&M University College of Engineering was established in 1969 and is the only historically black college or university in the state of Texas to offer a full range of engineering degree programs. The college was founded with a mission to provide quality education, research, and service for the advancement of engineering and related sciences. The college has grown significantly over the years, offering six undergraduate degrees, three master’s degrees, and two doctoral degrees. Prairie View A&M University College of Engineering is one of the top engineering schools in the nation. The admissions statistics for the college are highly competitive, with an acceptance rate of only 18%. The average GPA of accepted students is 3.5 and the average SAT score is 1140. Furthermore, students must have a minimum of 15 hours of college-level engineering courses with a grade of ‘C’ or higher to be eligible for admission. The college also requires applicants to take either the ACT or SAT and submit their scores along with their application materials. In addition, applicants must have at least one year of mathematics at a college-level coursework and demonstrate proficiency in physics, chemistry, or both.
