Lehigh University’s P.C. Rossin College of Engineering and Applied Science was established in 1866 as the first college of engineering in the state of Pennsylvania. The college was founded by Asa Packer, a wealthy industrialist and philanthropist whose vision was to create a world-class institution dedicated to engineering education. Initially, the college offered degrees in civil, mechanical and electrical engineering, with additional programs in industrial engineering, computer science and materials science added over time. In 1906, the college was renamed P.C. Rossin College of Engineering & Applied Science after its most generous benefactor, Peter C. Rossin.
